2012 Cultural Program

The Saudi Aramco Cultural Program is back again this year with new and exciting programs for the entire family. The program will run from June 20 to July 18, at the Saudi Aramco Cultural Park in Dhahran, located across from the Industrial Training Center (ITC), and at sites in Riyadh and Jiddah.

Whether you are looking for a cultural experience, learning and enrichment activities, or a combination of fun and entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

This year, and for the very first time in the Kingdom, the Cultural Program will feature the 1001 Inventions exhibit. The exhibit has toured around the world, including London, New York, Istanbul and Abu Dhabi. It introduces people to 1,000 years of scientific and cultural achievements from Muslim scientists and inventors, from the 7th century onward, which helped shape the foundations of our world today. It is an exciting learning opportunity for the entire family.

If you are looking to learn about the impact of energy conservation and technology innovation on the possibilities of shaping the future for Saudi Arabia and the world, then a visit to the Saudi 2050 Exhibit is a must.

The Tinkering Studio is another interesting exhibit that shouldn’t be missed. The studio was developed at the Museum of Science, Art, and Human Perception in San Francisco, where science, art and technology come together to create a unique learning environment. The goal is to support critical thinking, creative exploration, and scientific and artistic interaction with the world.

For good old-fashioned fun and entertainment, the 2012 agenda includes a variety of local and international live performances for the entire family, such as “Barney and Friends” and “The Fareej Show.” Shows will start at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. daily.

For football lovers who want to enhance their skills, the Valencia Football Academy has come all the way from Spain to provide four weeks of intensive training, and a fun experience for the kids.

Additionally, there are a variety of other sports activities to participate in, such as karate, table tennis and Tae Kwon Do.

Other programs and activities to explore include the Robot Olympics, where a team of engineers ages 8-12 program a robot and then guide it through a series of Olympic competitions; Imagination Playground, where giant foam blocks, mats and wagons allow children to tap into their creative potential to play and explore the endless possibilities; and Heritage Village, where you can learn about the different environments of the Kingdom.

Also, last year’s successful iSpark program is back, to provide interactive science workshops through hands-on exercises for young people.

The Saudi Aramco Cultural Program also extends to Riyadh and Jiddah with a series of programs through a variety of specialized exhibitions and pavilions offering awareness and educational activities, scientific and social lectures, various workshops, and various children’s activities, all presented in an interactive way to engage the audience.
